Palace in Plunderland


A screed against NY performance venue The Shed, published in the September 2018 issue of Artforum. Working with actor Paul Lazar (in the image, left), I used this essay as the basis for a performance also titled 'Palace in Plunderland.' Paul delivered the lecture-performance at the Barnes Museum in October 2018, as part of Boris Charmatz's project Philadelphia Museum of Dance: Choreographing Public Assembly.

Are You Alive or Not? Rietveld Academie

I'm curating the last day of a four-day conference-festival-event for the Rietveld Academie, loosely based around my book Artificial Hells. I've invited Gavin Butt, Jesse Darling, Annie Dorsen and Alexandra Pirici to respond to the question of whether de-skilling opens up to inclusive new aesthetic possibilities (such as punk, karaoke, or the user)--or just heralds the end of virtuosity altogether. Expo Zéro

On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July I appeared in the sixth edition of Boris Charmatz's Musée de la Danse/Expo Zéro as part of the Foreign Affairs festival in Berlin. Here's me and David Riff in conversation in one of the rooms at the Kunstsaele.
